LeCoultre Futurematic. Rare, rare watch. The black dial with red reserve indicator is just the most collectible of all these watches. The development of this watch was years ahead of technology. Known as the world's first fully automatic wrist watch. LeCoultre has stated the complexity of the watch at the time was so great that they lost money on each one they sold. The power reserve indicator allows the wearer to always know if it needs to be wound. As the watch is worn, the indicator moves from red to hours of time. It has a special ratchet arm and bumper to prevent over winding. Amazing for its time is the Hack second hand, which means that the second hand stops until it is synchronized with the exact time. The double rotor is above and below the movement thus keeping the rotor out of the way of the movement. Because of how the rotor works, the slipping clutch on the main spring is just eliminated. This reduces lots of errors on conventional rotor watches. The movement is a fully serviced and oiled 497, 17 Jewel adjustable movement. The case is 10K Gold filled. The case is in excellent condition with highly, highly desired offset or dropped lugs to make it a more comfortable wearing watch. Crystal has some scratches but is original. We can replace the crystal for a fee if you would like to forego the original crystal. The dial is just glamorous and was obviously refinished along the way. |
