You are looking at a Ulysee Nardin "Blue Wave." A beyond special limited edition of 1846 pieces (but that is for all stainless versions). 1846 pieces to honor the year that Ulysee Nardin was founded. This is not the 353-66, which is not a limited edition, nor is it the Blue Max which is smaller, nor is it the Blue Surf. This new model combines the case of the Maxi Marine Chronometer with the dial style of the Marine Diver, easily discernible by its massive hands and hourmarkers. Absolutely the most collectible except for the gold version which was limited to 350 pieces. If you look through the back, you will see a movement that is most beautiful. It's made with blue titanium, individually numbered, with a transparent sapphire case. The movement is C.O.S.C., certified self winding movement. It has a power reserve indicator and can go up to 42 hours. For 4 of 5 years, Ulysee Nardin has been honored with the prestigious Chronos Innovation Award. One would think Rolex, Vacheron or Patek, but no. Their last honor coming with this watch in 2004. The watchmaker has over 4300 awards. The true Blue Wave is individually numbered with a bronze plate. This piece is "1038." The Blue Wave is 41mm but appears much bigger. Without the bezel, it is just the best cross of all the blue dials. The Blue Wave has a very nice coin-edge bezel which is a stylistic remnant from the old marine chronometers. The crown guard is very protective of the excessive beats that a crown takes over the years. The Blue Max does not have this feature. I love how easy it is to read the date. The movement is a UN26. It is a 28,800 vph and has 28 jewels. Water resistant to 100M with screwdown crown. Anti-reflection sapphire crystal. Back of case is skin friendly titanium as well as having the powerful deployment clasp. This watch fits up to a 7 1/2 inch wrist. Hour and minute hands in the center, oversized small seconds, round date window at 6 o'clock, power reserve in red at 12 o'clock. Although the hands and hours are white, at night there is a blueish tint to the luminous. The watch is mint. I find one tiny scratch (almost not visible) on the clasp. Titanium is hard and I don't want to remove the Factory brush marks; therefore I'm not removing it. Believe me, it isn't worth it. This watch was a one owner. It comes with original books and the original cherry wood presentation case. The presentation case is not perfect. It was dropped and has been repaired. The felt on the inside where the hinges meet show the repair and the back of the case where the wood split shows repair. From the front, it looks beautiful. A very, very nice watch. I don't do anything that is not collectible. Although newer, it would give someone tremendous value now and will only go up with time. Exceptional, near mint watch. |
