Why this one? I would buy it (well, I did) because of many things. First and foremost, it has a near new band that's original. If you hold a good Jubilee band up by the watch, it should have a little play, but not drop way down. This one is near perfect (translates to about $2000). Second, if you take the face off, you will find that it is original from Rolex. That is not unusual until you show me a diamond champagne dial; now you have shown me unusual (also translates to about $2000). Now, let's put a 3035 movement, quickset, 27 jewel, 42 hour reserve with a microstella adjustment, a free sprung Breguet balance spring, and you have got a fine watch! The model is 16253, which happens to make this Thunderbird 18Kt gold through and through; crown, bezel, band, hands, all of it. Quad signed, complete with massive display box. You won't find better. Serial number R353268 dates the watch to 1987 III quarter. The movement serial number correctly matches the watch, S1904215, a fine movement. Rolex is the only one who has serviced the watch, in 1995. The watch has been stored in a safe since and is ready to wear. I just want to say this is truly an exceptional Thunderbird. Look at the bezel, the points, the clasp, band, diamond dial and 18Kt. |
