Look in the books. This is the 3rd model of Explorers. 1016s are easy to find compared to these. Then add that you can clearly read the model number and the serial numbers, and you have a collector's piece. I love this watch. Much patina on the dial. Yes, it could be redialed for about $150, but you lose the value and character of the watch. This is a museum quality watch. Some day, it will sell at Christie's or another auction house. It is money in the bank. Case is in superb condition and there is no pitting on the back whatsoever. The movement is in fine condition. Thoroughly checked and no problems with rotator, which is very typical for the 1030 movement. This movement is original to the watch. Inside case back tells you it was purchased in the first quarter of 1957. Is that not fantastic? That leaves no questions about the serial number 268244. Very early number indeed. I have now placed 3 of my favorite Rolexes on the website. They most assuredly will never hurt the buyer. They'll just keep going up in value. |
