Gruen

Dietrich Gruen began making watches in Germany when he was 15 years old. In 1867 he came to America and founded the Gruen Watch Company in 1876, two years after filing for a patent for an improved safety pinion. Gruen Watch Company produced their first wristwatch in 1908. The Pan American watch first debuted in 1943 for Pan American airline pilots. Vintage Gruen watches were once a great American tradition, but now are a unique collector’s item.
